Global Wellness Day 2025 Celebrated Across the Maldives Under the Theme #ReconnectMagenta

This June, the Maldives once again joined more than one billion people around the world in celebrating the 14th annual Global Wellness Day. Under this year’s theme of #ReconnectMagenta, the community came together to reconnect with themselves, each other, and with nature. “Connection is the heartbeat of life,” says Belgin Aksoy, founder of Global Wellness Day, which she launched in 2012 as an international, entirely not-for-profit social project dedicated to the universally shared dream of living a healthier and better life.

As one of the 120 Global Wellness Day Ambassadors, Julia Ivankovich expressed pride in seeing the Maldives so strongly represented within the worldwide Global Wellness Day family. She was delighted by the number of resorts and businesses that participated, the variety of nationalities who came together, and the inclusivity of the day—welcoming every community member, from the youngest to the boldest. The celebrations highlighted the Maldives’ diversity and strength, bringing people together to share inspiration, joy, and pride in their homeland.

Above all, the day aimed to plant wellness within local communities, making it accessible to everyone. A core mission of Global Wellness Day is the belief that health and happiness are not luxuries but universal rights. In Hulhumalé, the sunny Saturday began with a sunrise stretch led by Khadhy, allowing participants to recharge with nature. A family area offered hands-on creative activities, encouraging bonding across generations while adults rediscovered their inner child.

The programme included mindful pottery sessions guided by Clay Studio, Gua Sha therapy with Ziccu Zahir, and a Qi Gong Stress Shake-off led by Adrianna Lawera, a key supporter of Global Wellness Day Maldives. Strength and vitality were boosted through Mat Pilates with Kai from UNIT1, followed by an energetic dance-off with Branda from JOALI BEING. The closing celebration, fueled by high-energy moves and the rhythmic bodhu beru drum beats, sparked endorphins and left participants on a collective natural high.

Throughout the day, families arrived with children, sharing positive moments and self-care. Professionals contributed insights drawn from lifelong missions, leaving a lasting impact on participants. The atmosphere was one of connection, joy, and shared purpose.

Global Wellness Day reinforces the idea that while wellness is nurtured through small daily steps, one day can truly change a life. The day’s activities were designed to inspire new, healthier habits, encourage reflection, and strengthen the sense of community. Organizers expressed gratitude to all who helped shape the day—whether by leading activities, volunteering their time, or supporting through resorts and businesses.

Looking ahead, the Maldives will once again celebrate Global Wellness Day on Saturday, June 13, 2026, alongside communities worldwide.
