Royal Island Unveils its Festive ‘Island Traditions, Festive Glow’ Programme
Royal Island has unveiled its festive 2025–2026 programme, “Island Traditions, Festive Glow,” inviting guests to celebrate on a laid back Maldivian island framed by lantern light, palm trees and calm lagoon views.
The season is designed to feel warm, atmospheric and rooted in place. Days unfold in an easy rhythm of family friendly activities, from island inspired games and kids’ treasure hunts to craft sessions, palm leaf weaving and playful pool gatherings. As the sun dips, the focus shifts to relaxed social moments on the sand, with live music, retro disco nights, white parties and gentle after dinner hangouts that encourage guests to stay up just a little later under the stars.

Christmas at Royal Island blends familiar rituals with local colour. Guests can look forward to a tree lighting ceremony on the beach, Christmas Eve cocktails and a festive gala dinner, followed by a lively party soundtracked by classic and contemporary hits. Christmas Day brings a tropical Santa arrival by the water and a children’s fashion and talent show that keeps younger guests firmly in the spotlight. New Year’s Eve is marked with oceanfront cocktails, a celebratory dinner and a countdown that moves from live music to a beachside celebration, while Orthodox Christmas in early January receives its own dedicated dinner and DJ night to gently close the season.

True to its name, “Island Traditions, Festive Glow” highlights the culture of the Maldives. Guests can join Maldivian cooking classes, taste homely Haruge style dinners, and experience Boduberu drumming with signature Royal Island dance performances. Private dining options, from candlelit beach dinners to cinema under the stars and lagoon or floating breakfasts, add another layer of atmosphere for couples and families who want to personalise their celebrations.
Beyond the festive tables, Royal Island’s location in Baa Atoll, near the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, sets the scene for underwater encounters with turtles, reef fish and, in season, manta rays. Guests can join guided snorkelling excursions, build multi day dive plans or choose gentle private cruises, from dolphin safaris and sunset fishing to sandbank escapes and stargazing set ups on quiet stretches of beach. At Araamu Spa, island inspired rituals, couple’s escapes and restorative massages help guests slow down between celebrations and start the new year feeling rested.
With its intimate scale, strong sense of place and a festive calendar that balances family fun, local traditions and quiet moments by the sea, Royal Island offers a season that feels both celebratory and deeply Maldivian. For more information and the full festive programme, visit: https://villaresorts.com/royal-island/festive-celebrations/
