“Threading Time” by Hajja Nazwa: An Intimate Solo Exhibition at Oaga Art Resort
Oaga Art Resort presents “Threading Time,” a captivating solo exhibition by Maldivian artist Hajja Nazwa, opening on December 5, 2025, at its Moo Gé Gallery by Suvāsthi, the art brand of Oaga Resorts. The exhibition will run until January 6, 2026, offering guests the opportunity to experience Hajja’s stitched photographic stories throughout the holiday season.
Threading Time: Moments Captured in Thread
“Threading Time” is an exploration of memory, daily life, and the quiet beauty of island living. Combining photography with embroidery, Hajja Nazwa transforms ordinary moments into enduring works of art. Each thread carries a story, capturing street corners, bursts of colour, the gentle chaos of the city, and the calm of the Maldives.

Hajja shares, “Photo embroidery gives me a gentle place to return to… a space where I can slow down, look closely, and connect with myself. The act of stitching feels like a conversation between my hands and my memories. It reminds me to notice the small things, to honour them, and to hold onto the parts of life that quietly shape me.”
This exhibition presents 55 pieces from Hajja’s stitched-story journey, many inspired by her own photographs that celebrate Maldivian culture, heritage, and everyday life. The works invite visitors to engage with the interplay of light, color, and thread, creating a space where art, memory, and island life converge.
The exhibition has been thoughtfully curated by Ahmed Sobah, whose experience in the Maldivian arts scene ensures a presentation that highlights the vibrancy, intimacy, and contemplative nature of Hajja’s work.
