Guraidhoo

Guraidhoo is a quaint island located just 32 km from the capital, Malé, in the South Malé Atoll, with Maafushi lying only 8 km away. Measuring a modest 700 by 500 meters, Guraidhoo is home to around 2,000 residents and has become a favored spot for tourists seeking a more authentic local experience.
Visitors can easily reach Lhosfushi, a nearby deserted island designed for tourists, via a footbridge. However, the currents between the islands can be quite strong. On Guraidhoo, sunbathing in a bikini is permitted, but entering the water can be challenging due to the presence of dead corals. The house reef is located some distance from the shore, prompting guesthouses to offer affordable snorkeling trips to access it. Surfers also frequent this area to catch waves, particularly during the season from May to November.
